Climate Calculation Now Integrated into CABAS!
In the June release of CABAS, we’re launching a new feature in CABAS Climate Calculation. Users of CABAS Climate Calculation will now be able to see the climate impact results directly while performing a calculation.
At the end of last year, we launched CABAS Climate Calculation – a service that calculates the climate footprint of repairs and presents the result in terms of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO₂e). The calculation is based on estimate data from CABAS and is presented in a web-based reporting tool.
What’s new in CABAS release 25.6 is that the result of the climate calculation for each estimate is now displayed directly in CABAS. This allows users to see how their choices impact the climate footprint during the calculation process. Pia Litz Rung, Product Specialist at CAB and lead developer of CABAS Climate Calculation, explains:
“Since the start of the year, we’ve been able to offer climate calculations for approved estimates. This has mainly been requested by insurance companies and repair shops who want to continuously monitor their climate efforts and need to report emissions data – either voluntarily or due to regulatory requirements. What we’re now offering is the ability to see in real time how climate-friendly a repair is during the estimation phase.”

The climate calculation in CABAS will be shown in three different reports. In the existing summary report, climate impact and savings will be displayed. In addition, two entirely new reports will be available: a detailed climate report showing the climate footprint of the current estimate down to the parts level, and a customer report highlighting how much the repair shop’s active choices have reduced the climate impact.
