CABAS Climate Calculation

CABAS Climate Calculation is a service from CAB that shows the climate footprint of damage repairs based on CABAS calculations.

This is a new service for you as a CABAS user. CABAS Climate Calculation is used to help you make sustainable choices during damage repairs and provide you with the data you need to follow up on your sustainability efforts and report on sustainability.

Sustainability data during damage calculation

CABAS Climate Calculation shows the climate impact of a repair already at the calculation stage. Depending on the choices you make, you will see in the CABAS reports how much CO₂e you have saved — for example, by repairing instead of replacing with a new part, or by using a used spare part.

Confimation on your sustainability efforts

The result of the climate calculation will be shown in the customer report as saved CO₂e. In this way, the car owner can clearly see how your choices positively affect emissions.

If you use CAB Plan, the result will be displayed there as well. This ensures that everyone working with the vehicle becomes involved in the workshop's climate efforts.

Simplifies follow-up and reporting

Your data from CABAS Climate Calculation can also be accessed via a web-based reporting interface. This provides you with reliable data in a format that can be used to follow up on your sustainability work and for reporting according to frameworks such as the EU’s CSRD directive and the Science Based Targets Initiative.

What influences a repair’s climate impact?

The calculation model used in CABAS Climate Calculation was developed by the Belgian environmental institute VITO and is based on life cycle analysis of the repair’s characteristics. These include:

• Vehicle characteristics
  Calculations are based on the specific vehicle’s unique features identified via the VIN code.
  
• Spare part characteristics
  CABAS Climate Calculation considers material, weight, packaging materials, and more.
  
• Repair method
  The total climate impact is affected by whether a spare part is replaced with a new one, repaired, or replaced
